Monday's Project

I thought I would post some photos of my project for the day. I'm packing the office and my closet today. I'm currently at the point where things are worse before they get better. I'll post more photos tonight and HOPEFULLY it will look better.

CityTV visits the office

CityTV's Bridget Ryan, who is originally an American by the way, stopped by with a camera man to surprise one of our assistants in the office, Agata, who won Edmonton's best administrative professional award.

She was surprised to say the least as everyone in the lower level and some on the second floor knew about it. She was "told" it was a crew coming in to do an interview about School Safety Patrol - for which she replied in her Ukranian accent, "DOWN HERE?"

Things are moving right along now. The weather is turning for the worse though as flurries are forecasted for tomorrow. But it's supposed to warm back up next week. Missing Amanda, but we're less than 3 weeks now!

Talk to you later.

10 Random Thoughts and Things To Do

1. I am so thankful for my friend Jessica. I went over to her super cool Old Market apartment tonight for our favorite...TACO SALAD. She's about the only other person in this world that gets as excited about taco salad as I do. And, after chatting for awhile she pretty much read her mind...ICE CREAM.
2. Missing my hubby like crazy!
3. Feeling good about school...passed my comprehensive exams, well on my way to completing my project and only 5 or so more pages to write on a paper before I am done with the semester.
4. CRAP...now that school is almost over, what am I going to do now? Any ideas?
5. Feeling better about the state in which my house is in (thank you soooooo much Molly). Moving is as horrible as I remember!
6. Can't believe the new wardrobe I bought for my DOG!!!! She will need warm 'clothes' for the winter ahead....right? Pictures to come...
7. Tomorrow is my first day of getting up at 5:30 a.m. to workout. I need to get in shape so I have just as much fun shopping for myself as I did shopping for my dog (she can fit into an XS, I can't!).
8. Mow the lawn...anyone want to do that for me?
9. Does anyone even read this?
10. Buy vinegar tomorrow.

Great Falls Easter

Jason here.

I took a trip down to Great Falls for Easter. It's very nice weather, and it was just mom and I the first couple days since dad was doing a guy trip to Oregon - he gets back tonight.

So mom and I went for a walk on the ol' River Edge trail in Great Falls with Charlie. Jessie had to stay because it was too hot and too long.

This is the same route Lewis and Clark took on their way through and it runs along the river where the big waterfalls, now dammed, are.

We spent a lot of time on these trails when I was a kid. The dams are huge!

There are five of them in and around here, but only two you can get to by walking. We also went to the fish hatchery where they breed trout so you people can catch something every once in a while.

Mom also spotted what we think is a beaver. Although it was very light coloured. Tonight we're watching the final Oiler game and eating steak.

I will drive back to Edmonton tomorrow since i have to work Monday.

Comps are over!

Amanda here...I have pretty much been oblivious to everything other than school for the past two weeks preparing for my comprehensive exams. Well, comps are over and it's good to be back. I am now one step closer to having my Masters! Now it's on to my project that needs to be completed and presented before I leave for Canada.

Things are coming together and time is flying by. This weekend the fam is coming down for Easter and my garage sale on Friday and Saturday. Spread the word about the garage sale - Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 11 am.

Oilers last gasp

Well, it's over.

I saw four Oiler games in person since I have been here and they lost three of them. Just enough to slide their way from a comfy 7th to 11th and out of the playoff picture for the third year in a row.

Dave Embury let us (my friend Bill and I) use his gold seats for the LA game, which the Oilers lost and were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

With these seats you can go down where the players come out and cheer, or jeer I guess, the Oilers on. It was pretty sweet the first time I went down there.

This was before the biggest game of the season, which the Oilers promptly gave up two quick ones and couldn't mount a come back.

The city is disappointed and down-trodden. Now the two-month long playoffs are even more agaonizing without anyone to cheer for and Eskimo season is still almost three months away.

It sucks.

Weekend with the Petersons

To pass some time on Saturday I was invited to see Scott Peterson's (Guy I play baseball with) dynamic duo of Blaze and Jaxyn and their season opening ball hockey games. Both teams earned wins, notching half of last season's total, Scott said. (Blaze's team went winless with one tie, while Jaxyn's team only won 4-5 games. Things are looking up in '09!

Jaxyn's team, the Atom Flyers, won a tight-checking tilt 3-1 over the Kings, while Blaze's bunch, the novice Oilers, kicked the crap out of the Red Wings 12-0. Ethan Moreau's kid plays with Blaze - for you AMEriCANS, Moreau is the captain of the Edmonton Oilers.

Blaze's team scored in the first minute of the game, which prompted Jaxyn to mumble, "Too bad the real Oilers aren't this good."

In between games we went to Wendy's for lunch. Blaze tried his best to do an impression of how I sounded when I tried to pull a prank call on Scott last week - "Hello, is Wang there?"

In Blaze's game, the young lad had a couple golden chances, and despite a struggling tender, he couldn't pot a goal. The goalie made his best save of the day on Blaze of course - tough luck - in the video. Blaze is still looking for his first twine-bender of his career, but he's working hard. He had two assists in the game Saturday.

After lunch at Wendy's and Blaze's game, we went home and hung out in Leduc. Blaze and I played some Wii Hockey and he showed me his Oiler statues. Then we had pizza and watched the Oilers beat the Canucks 5-3. What a night.

Here's Blaze playing some Wii Hockey NHL2K9:

Home sweet home...soon

The money is down on a "Desert Gold" Townhouse in Sherwood Park, Alberta, just off Cloverbar Road just north of Wye Road. This is where we call home the next year at least, maybe more.

It has three bedrooms, two baths and a garage for Amanda in the winter, plus two extra parking stalls.

Amanda is skeptical of the place because I picked it out, but I think she will like it. Dave and Bev helped me talk the woman into giving it a good re-painting before we move in at the end of April

It feels good knowing we finally have a place to call home while we are here. It's really close to a lot of our friends and in a familiar, safe area so we should feel confident it will be a good place for us...and Izzy of course.
